The Parish of St. George is forming a Safety & Security Committee to ensure the safety and security of all who are part of our Church, our stewards, parishioners, staff, guests and visitors. As such, there will be a Safety & Security Committee Orientation Meeting held by Cmdr. Elias Voulgaris, Chicago PD Retired, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, after the Church Service has ended.
All First Responders who are members of the Church: Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, EMT's, Police Officers, Firefighters, Security Officers, as well as CCL Holders are invited and welcomed to attend, as are individuals knowledgeable of OSHA Regulations.

St. George Sunday School and Saint George Ladies Philoptochos Society Service Project at Elmwood Cemetery 2905 Thatcher Ave, River Grove.

Children of all ages are invited to meet at Elmwood Cemetery by the Holy Transfiguration Chapel at 1:30 pm, for Trisagion Service and grave cleanup.

A fun and faith-filled evening to learn why Orthodoxy does not celebrate Halloween, and instead honor the light of Christ through the lives of the Saints.

HOPE/JOY is part of our parish youth ministries that aim to provide social and educational opportunities for children through fun games and crafts.

Sessions are held on Saturdays at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm., alternating with Bitty Basketball.

As one of the oldest ministries of our beloved parish of St. George, the Ladies Educational Society has proudly served our community for over 97 years. Originally founded to support the Greek School, our mission remains strong and unwavering—to uplift and fundraise for the educational needs of our students.

From the very first day of Greek School to major parish celebrations, the Ladies Educational Society continues to host and support key events, including receptions and cherished traditions such as Lazarus Saturday, among many others.

Scholarships remain a cornerstone of our mission, helping to ensure that our students can thrive and grow within their faith and education.

With our 100th anniversary milestone approaching in less than three years, we are filled with excitement and gratitude. We look forward to continuing our legacy of service, achievement, and love.

Family Night in September

Family night is back from summer break with a bonfire!

Fr. Chrysanthos and Fr. Joseph will explain how we dispose of ecclesiastical items and the tradition of lighting bonfires for the feast of the Holy Cross in parts of the Christian world.

Of course, it is a bonfire, so we will have S’mores, S’food, and S’illyness!

Eighth Annual Blessing of the Animals at St. George!

Bring your pets, large, small, two legged, no legged, four legged.

Blessing will take place in of the church starting at noon on Saturday, August 30th.

Snacks will be served for humans and pets!

Students are invited to bring their backpacks for blessing on Sunday, August 24th. Prayer will be read at the end of Divine Liturgy. There will be surprise treats for students during coffee hour.

Hellenic Foundation will again offer bus service to the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Monastery,  in Harvard, IL on August 5, 2025 for Vespers. 
Limited spots are available; please make your reservations early.
The bus will leave from St. Haralambos in Niles at 5:00 pm, and return around 10:00 pm.

Please send us a photo of your graduate from elementary school, high school, university, master's programs, Ph.D., etc. Tell us which school they graduated from and/or which school they will be attending. If the graduate has completed their studies and is beginning a career, please tell us what they will be doing next. Let us know by May 28th; we will celebrate our graduates on Sunday, June 15th.
